On Hedy’s 66th birthday, with excitement and anticipation, we sent an announcement and asked you to join us for a celebration that would launch us into the next era in our work and lives – that of actively building our legacy. As much as we want to move forward with that wonderful 10.10.10 celebration, we have come to realize together that, at this time, our focus needs to be elsewhere. Our big splash into legacy building can wait a bit – but the current adventure in our lives cannot.
Earlier in August, Yumi received two stents in major arteries. He’s doing well, and right now he’s needing a period of real recovery. His convalescence is more demanding than we had anticipated. His heart needs some time to learn how to welcome the new blood flow. As a result, I have made the decision to hold off on the 10:10:10 celebration, so that I can be with Yumi at this important time. As I mentioned earlier, it is not a time in our life to be focused on creating a big event. It is rather a time for us to be together, and create a path for healing.
Yumi and I appreciate your thoughts and your blessings, and the willingness you showed us to support us with the 10.10.10 event. We look forward to the day when we can write to you again, and say: “We are ready to plunge in again for the next big adventure of bringing our beloved work to the world!”
With great fondness,
Hedy + Yumi Schleifer
