PRESENTING WITH BOLDNESS, POISE AND CONFIDENCE
A Presentational Skills Advanced Training
Who should attend this training course?
Previous trainings have been attended by writers, playwrights, poets, screenwriters, documentary filmmakers, actors, musicians, philanthropists, and therapists, as well as workshop presenters, lecturers, and public speakers. There is no pre-requisite, and the training is open to ALL who wish to sharpen (or rather “soften”) their presentational skills. So, tell your friends, colleagues, and anyone in your community you believe would be most nourished and enriched by this training.
Why should you attend?
- You will acquire an empowering stance and a variety of skills to grow your confidence in inspiring your audience.
- You will discover how to get “unstuck” from what has possibly kept you back from performing at your very best, and now be able to flow in your own style and approach.
- You will witness Hedy Schleifer in action, with her over 30 years of experience presenting workshops, trainings, lectures and keynote speeches.
- You will learn from thought leader and speaker, Hedy Schleifer, how to transform your own life through the power of communicating effective speeches, presentations, and workshops.
What are some of the distinctions you will learn?
During the training, one of the distinctions that Hedy makes is that of “filling” a room, and “opening” a room, which was coined by the educator Parker Palmer, in his powerful book called The Courage To Teach: Exploring the inner landscape of a teacher’s life. Parker Palmer proposes that even if you are going to “fill" the room with fact-driven information, for people to learn more deeply from what you are teaching, and have more enthusiasm for the material, it is important to “open" the room. What he suggests is to connect with the audience in such a way that they “land” with you. Then they can connect with the material in such a way that it integrates more fully.
"Good teaching cannot be reduced to technique; good teaching comes from the identity and integrity of the teacher” He also says: “If we want to grow as a teacher we must do something alien to academic culture: we must talk to each other about our inner lives - risky stuff in a profession that fears the personal, and seeks safety in the technical, the distant, the abstract." – Parker Palmer, Educator
The Presentational Skills training will explore the many varied ways to “open" a room. All of them are based on what Parker Palmer describes as the courage to teach and present. Rather than be comfortable in the security of facts, he proposes to take a chance, and be authentic and vulnerable with what we know and what we do not know, and thus create an open learning environment.
"Hedy’s Presentational Skills Training helped me re-confirm the most powerful way to connect with an audience: filling the room versus opening the room. This training taught me so much and helped me to re-engage and re-connect with myself." Soo Bong Peer
Is this training a good fit for you?
The Presentational Skills Advanced Training is a good fit for presenters of any kind. Perhaps you are already comfortable with your speaking skills and are looking to take your presentations to a newer, deeper level. However, this training is especially a good fit if you are "sort of comfortable” giving presentations, and you wish to grow your confidence, self-assurance, and boldness to make the most powerful connection with your audience.
"Here is an opportunity to spend two days with Hedy Schleifer. I have found my learnings from her to be life changing. If you are a presenter of any kind, or looking to present who you are and what you do in the world, you will be in the presence of a master. She has the capacity to connect with a whole room of people in a way I have never seen anybody else do (and I’ve been in a lot of rooms)!" Paul Browde, MD.
Would the type of content you present fit the class?
The Presentational Skills Training is not "content" driven. Participants will be bringing their own content over many different fields and careers.
Hedy works with a piece of growth edge work from anyone who volunteers to “step into the circle.” She teaches theory around that work, so that everyone has the opportunity to incorporate those steps of growth and empowerment for themselves. Some participants may not participate in the middle of the circle, but everyone will learn and grow.
